A Safe Harbour check is initiated in the same way as any other process request - see the example process flow for more details on this.
A Safe Harbour journey will attempt to verify the Entity's identity to the recognised Safe Harbour standard - i.e. by verifying a passport using NFC technology combined with liveness and facial recognition.
For vendors, we will also prompt for two 'linking documents' to be provided - which are made available by the portal and via the API.
NOTE: These linking documents will need to be reviewed and verified by you/your client to confirm that they are valid and relevant to the property that is being sold. This can be done via the portal front-end, or via the API. For instructions on doing this via the API, please see our Updating the result of a Safe Harbour check page.
We have four variants of the Safe Harbour journey:
- Safe Harbour Address | Purchaser - verifies the purchaser's identity to Safe Harbour standard.
- Safe Harbour Address | Vendor - verifies the vendor's identity to Safe Harbour standard and captures 2 linking documents.
- Safe Harbour | Address | International Screening | Purchaser - verifies the purchaser's identity to Safe Harbour standard and performs international screening checks.
- Safe Harbour | Address | International Screening | Vendor - verifies the vendor's identity to Safe Harbour standard, captures 2 linking documents and performs international screening checks.
For the JourneyIDs and ActorIDs of these journeys, please see our Public JourneyIDs page.
