Validating a Non-UK or Irish Right to Rent check
Introduction
This article will provide you with all the information needed to validate a UK or Irish right to work check within the Credas Connect platform.
How our Right to Rent checks work
The Home Office states that you will only establish a statutory excuse when using an Identity Service Provider (IdSP) where the IDSP verifies the identity of the individual using an in-date UK/Irish passport belonging to a British/Irish citizen.
Our platform is configured to this compliant specification and, by default, is the configuration applied to your portal.
Where you wish to deviate from the compliant specification, by asking that we capture additional documents or obtain the Home Office Online Report on your behalf for non-UK/Irish citizens, we are able to provide this upon you signing a waiver acknowledging it will not provide you with a statutory excuse against prosecution from the Home Office. To enable this function please email [email protected]
Where a non-UK/Irish citizen provides a share code for their Home Office Online Report to be obtained, the Report itself is sufficient proof of identity and an identity document is not required. Again, our platform is configured to be compliant with this and will not, by default, request an identity document in addition to a share code.
Where you wish to deviate from the compliant specification, by asking that we capture a passport in addition to the share code, this can be provided by requesting our Employee Identity Check journey and by signing a waiver.
