Detailed Reports

When an Identity Document has been analysed using 'Visual Analysis', a detailed report will be produced. This detailed report provides analysis on the document, and on the live selfie photo giving you more granular information. Where the identity document has failed due to the visual analysis or facial check (when visual analysis has been performed), this report will highlight the reasons for failure and we highly recommend reading it. This article discusses this detailed report and details the different information you may see, helping you to interpret the report.

In cases where a document has been verified by a NFC scan instead of visual analysis, a detailed report will not be provided. In this case, or when the identity document has failed due to a different check, such as valid document type or name check, we recommend reading the results guide here to understand your results instead.

Accessing the Detailed Report

When the document has been analysed using 'Visual Analysis', you will be able to access the detailed report by clicking 'View detailed report' above the Identity Document as can be seen below.

Understanding the Report

The detailed report will be broken down into two sections (a facial similarity report and a document report) as can be seen below. These areas will then be broken down further into specific areas of assessment such as spoofing or visual authenticity with a result of a green ticket for a pass and either a red cross or yellow exclamation mark for a failure.

Facial Similarity Report

The facial similarity report provides you an assessment of whether the face on the identity document is the same person from the live selfie photo, whilst also ensuring the selfie image is a live capture of the individual. The facial similarity report result will appear as either clear or consider with the below areas appearing detailing the reasons.

Area on detailed reportWhat this means
VISUAL AUTHENTICITYAssesses whether the person in the live selfie photo is real.
Spoofing detectionThis contains a score value between 0 and 1 which expresses the likelihood that the live selfie photo is real. The closer the score is to 0, the more likely it represents a spoofed image, such as an image of a printed photo or photo on a digital screen. The closer the score is to 1, the more likely it represents a real image.
FACE COMPARISON Assesses whether the face on the identity document matches the face in the live selfie photo. This will only appear in the detailed report, if a face has been detected on the identity document and the live selfie photo.
Face matchThis check contains a score value between 0 and 1 identifying how similar the face on the identity document and the live selfie photo are. The closer this score is to 0, the less likely the faces belong to the same individual. The closer this score is to 1, the more likely the face belongs to the same individual.
IMAGE INTEGRITYAssesses whether the quality and integrity of the document, and live selfie photo were sufficient to perform a face comparison. For example, if no face was detected on the identity document.
Face detectedAssesses that a face of sufficient quality has been found on the identity document and within the live selfie photo.
Source integrityAssesses whether the source of the live photo is trustworthy. Examples impacting source integrity may be that the selfie was digitally tampered with or it was taken from a fake webcam. This check also assesses whether the individuals submitted document is issued by a country subject to sanctions. If the document issued is from a country subject to sanctions, we are unable to provide you with a report on it and it would be down to your internal policies on whether you accept it.

Document Report

The document report refers to the validity of the identity document. You will be presented with one of the below four overall results for the document report:

  • Clear - If all verification's pass.
  • Caution - If any of the verification fail, but do not necessarily point to the document being fraudulent (such as if the name provided on the document, does not match that entered on the invitation).
  • Suspected - The document could be suspected to be fraudulent such as if the document has flagged for repeat attempts or police record.
  • Rejected - If the report has produced information which means the check cannot be processed further such as poor image quality, the identity documents issuing country is subject to sanctions and/or the document provided is not supported for verification.

Alongside this, you will be presented with sub-breakdowns providing more granular information on the reason for failure. If the document report has flagged, we recommend referring to your internal compliance policies on what to do next, however you may wish to resubmit the check to the individual by following the steps here.

The below table lists out the different points, in alphabetical order, you may see flag if the document has failed and what they mean.
