What is 'Valid Document Type'?
We have introduced a new Identity Document check called 'Valid Document Type', you will see this result appear from the 14th August 2025. This check aims to provide improved document validation by checking that the document captured by the individual completing the check is a configured document for the journey in question.
For example, if you have a journey that is passport only, any document captured by the individual that is not a passport, will automatically appear as a fail. This is particularly important for journeys that are configured for specific legislation requirements such as Safe Harbour and Right to Work/Rent. The results you will see are:

| This checks whether the Identity Document captured is a valid configured option. | |
| PASS | The document provided is a valid configured option. |
| FAIL | The document provided is not a valid configured option. For example, if you have issued a passport only journey, if anything except a passport has been captured, this result will fail. |
| NOT PERFORMED | The document was provided prior to this new feature going live (14th August 2025). |
Alongside this new check which will appear in your results in the Credas portal and PDF, we have introduced new functionality that individuals completing the checks will see. If the individual tries to capture a document that is not a configured option for the journey, we will ask them re-try with the correct document.
